On October 29th, at Palazzo Lombardia, in Milan, AlpFoodway organises an event dedicated to Alpine communities to present the results achieved in these three years.

The project started from the awareness that, in the Alps, the set of sustainable production and consumption practices, knowledge and skills, productive landscapes and traditional food constituting the Alpine food heritage risks losing its distinctiveness due to urban sprawl, mass tourism, heavy traffic, air and water pollution, intensive farming and global warming.

Safeguarding the Alpine Food Heritage is paramount for preserving the culture and identity of the Alpine people, re-establishing a sustainable way of living and preserving the quality of Alpine landscapes a to the benefit of current and future generations.

The AlpFoodway project has developed tools, solutions, guidelines, approaches to safeguard and sustainably valorize the Alpine Food Heritage.

In this final event the project partners will present the community-based Inventory www.intangiblesearch.eu, the innovative practices partners tested for safeguarding and disseminating the Alpine Food Heritage as well as the “Vision Paper”, a strategic policy document that explains how safeguarding and valorizing Alpine Food Heritage can also contribute to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Alpine communities from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland jointly endeavour to safeguard Alpine Food Heritage also through the inscription on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The Alpine Food Heritage Charter (https://www.alpfoodway.eu/paper/english) and an online petition developed by AlpFoodway are the groundwork for his bottom-up process.
