The City of Sigmaringen is located in South-West Germany in Baden-Württemberg, situated on the upper Danube. As "Lead Partner" in the EU project AlpBioEco, the City is in charge of the project management, coordination and supports all work packages. The 12 project partners are actively supported by the Lead Partner in order to ensure the sustainable implementation of AlpBioEco.

The Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences is located between Stuttgart and Lake Constance in the south of Germany. Around 3,500 students are enrolled at two locations in Baden-Wuerttemberg: Sigmaringen and Albstadt. The university is the second largest contributor to the AlpBioEco project after the City of Sigmaringen.

The Competence Center for Nutrition (KErn) is located in Kulmbach and Freising in Bavaria, Germany. KErn belongs to the Department of the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry. It bundles the knowledge about nutrition in Bavaria. KErn supports the bavarian food industry by organizing specialist events, by providing information materials and by developing model projects for various target groups.

The „Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland (BUND)“ is a NGO to promote environ­mental und natural protection. It is the German section of „Friends of the Earth International“. The „Regionalverband Bodensee-Oberschwaben (RVBO)“ is a regional subdivision encompassing the administrative districts Ravensburg, Sigmaringen, Lake Constance and Konstanz. The BUND-RVBO represents local groups in 32 local communities and about 15.000 members and promoters.

RIW is an association of 14 local communities to conjointly work on different issues of local development. The cooperation is responsible for projects funded by the EU-programmes INTERREG & LEADER. Central issues of the collaboration are the making of regional agricultural products and the improvement of the Alpine landscape. Especially the cultivation of the steep mountain meadows with is rich biodiversity as rough pastures is an ongoing concern of the region. RIW as a project partner introduces an added value to the Alpine landscape by utilizing bio-economical resources, e.g. hay and herbage.

The Environment Park (Envipark SpA) is a public corporation located in Turin, Italy. It covers 30.000 square meters with 70 companies in the areas of Green Building, Plasma Nano-Tech, Green Chemistry, Advanced Energy and Clean Tech. Activities promoted and tested by Envipark are wastes exploitation for bio-chemicals extraction, energetic valorisation of wastes, production of cosmetics and nutraceuticals products added with natural extracts from plants. Envipark disposes of laboratories and facilities with plants at pilot scale useful for validating at pre-industrial scale treatments for bio-chemicals extraction from botanicals. This provides results for bio-economy evaluation and business model implementing. In AlpBioEco Envipark plays an active role in providing links among companies, research centres, local authorities and decision makers.

BC Naklo is a public educational institution working in the fields of food-processing, (organic) agriculture, rural development, horticulture and nature preservation. BC Naklo enrolls 900 students each year, mostly from Alpine and pre-Alpine rural areas. In Slovenia, BC Naklo is recognised as one of the main “generator” of regional development with an important synergic effect in the field of education and also in joint action of economy, employment, scientific and agricultural sector. As an educational, research and development oriented institution with a great care for a nature preservation and with a concern for production and processing of bio-based food BC Naklo is a suitable partner for AlpBioEco in Slovenia. All training programmes have an emphasis on practical training and entrepreneurial learning.

It also represents branch interests vs. interests of Slovenian (non-)governmental institutions.It has a very close collaboration to the food industry. As a representative of the national food industry association it is a multiple purpose adviser and develops strategic partnerships for the purpose of innovation. Through its members and experts involved it increases the involvement of food-SMEs in order to share knowledge with AlpBioEco.

The division specializes in the fruit and vegetable, vine, wine, cereals, cosmetics and perfumes sectors. Terralia brings together a network of companies and research and training organizations with more than 400 members. Terralia accelerates the launch of new products and services based on the results of research projects boosting innovation to economic development, e.g. waste management, co-product valorization, vegetable food industry sectors, eco-extraction. Terralia is responsible for testing and implementing new business concepts founded in AlpBioEco due to its members who are interested in developing new bio-economical models.
